Natasha Rothwell Upped to Series Regular on 'Insecure' + Inks Development With HBO for New Comedy

Natasha Rothwell, who is both a story editor and has a recurring role on the first season of “Insecure,” has been upgraded to a series regular for the second season of the HBO dramedy from Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore, which was renewed earlier this week.

In addition, Rothwell, who also wrote for “Saturday Night Live” over the previous 2 seasons, and is a writer and star of Netflix’s comedy sketch series “The Characters,” has inked a development deal with HBO for a comedy project that she will both write and star in.

Rothwell will reprise her role as Issa’s friend Kelli for season 2 as a series regular.

No details at this time on the new comedy project she’s working on separately with HBO.
