NBA Star Baron Davis Sells Comedy Pitch to Fox, to Be Written by Courtney Lilly

nullNBA All-Star Baron Davis has sold a half hour comedy pitch to Fox that’s loosely-based on his life, and centers on a South Central-raised kid who receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious suburban school, and has to balance the world he already knows with the one he’s entering.

It will be written and exec produced by Courtney Lilly – a writer whose name has popped up on this site a few times over the years: Chris Rock’s "Everybody Hates Chris," "Arrested Development," "The Cleveland Show," "Guys with Kids," and more.

Davis will exec produce, along with Kate Gordon and Max Winkler, Jake Johnson and Mary Lee of The Walcott Company.

Baron Davis, currently a free agent, last played for the New York Knicks. After being drafted in the 1999 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, he went on to play for the New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers before signing with New York as a free agent in 2011. He played college basketball at UCLA.

Already a SAG member himself, with small roles in film and TV projects like "The Cookout" and "Lincoln Heights," Davis and his Verso Entertainment production company have been producing content for a few years now.

I should note that another NBA star, LeBron James’ Starz series "Survivor’s Remorse," is also loosely-based based on his own life.
