NBC Shelves Bill Cosby's Return to Primetime Sitcom TV Amid Rape Allegations

nullOn the heels of news that Netflix has canceled "postponed" its Bill Cosby project comes news that NBC has put the breaks on development of its Bill Cosby sitcom, amid mounting rape allegations against the legendary comedian – and by "put the breaks" I mean, they’ve shelved plans for Cosby’s previously announced return to primetime TV.

NBC, however, hasn’t made an official statement on the matter.

Initially announced in January of this year, Bill Cosby was to head back to NBC to star in what was to be a new family comedy, produced by former "Cosby Show" producer Tom Werner.

In the untitled series, Cosby would’ve played the head of a multi-generational family, not-so unlike his past comedy series.

Last we reported on the project, earlier this year, it had gone out to potential writers.

Sergio asked whether NBC should go ahead with the series in a piece published earlier this month here.

The

latest person to accuse Cosby of rape is former supermodel and

"America’s Next Top Model" judge Janice Dickinson, who claims Cosby

assaulted her in 1982.

Meanwhile, Cosby’s attorney, Marty Singer, responded to

Dickinson’s statements on Tuesday, calling them "a defamatory

fabrication" in a letter to TheWrap.
