Fans are praying for Nene Leakes and her family after she made the sad announcement that her longtime husband Gregg is succumbing to his failing health. Weeks ago, the former The Real Housewives of Atlanta star told The Jasmine Brand that Gregg’s cancer had returned with a vengeance and that he wasn’t doing well.

In a clip circulating online, Nene told patrons at her Georgia Longue that Gregg was at home and “transitioning” to the other side. Her comments came after a patron allegedly scolded her for not giving her a happy birthday shoutout.

“My husband is transitioning to the other side,” she told the room before directly acknowledging the patron. “You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now. We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business. So, when people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say ‘Happy birthday,’ okay?…“I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength. And pray for me too.”

Gregg was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2018 and the strain his illness took on the Leakes family was documented in the final two seasons of Leakes’ time on RHOA. She was open about feeling that Gregg took his hurt out on her and the impact being a caregiver had on her mental state and their marriage. Nene even admitted that prior to Gregg’s diagnosis, the couple was in talks of separating but she put those plans on hold in order to care for him.

At the time, Gregg opted not to undergo chemotherapy, instead focusing on natural remedies, including adopting a vegan diet. Nene shared recently that he underwent surgery.

Together, the couple shares one son, Brent. Gregg also raised Nene’s older son Bryson and has four sons from a previous marriage. Nene shared a meme to her Instagram page over the weekend that simply reads: “BROKEN,” along with a broken heart emoji.

Our thoughts are with the Leakes family at this time.
