Nene Leakes Says She Will Organize A March Outside Of Racist Television Studios

Nene Leakes is not quieting down over her claims of unfair treatment and systematic racism she says she experienced while under contract with Bravo. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum has been vocal about feeling as if producers “phased her out” of the show. She also accuses the network of giving her white counterparts spinoff opportunities and not the Black talent. The network has faced more criticism of fans over the way Monique Samuels was edited and questioned during The Real Housewives of Potomac season 5 reunion.

Leakes says she walked away from RHOA after not being able to come to an agreement on what her role would be in season 13. She admits she’s heartbroken but says she wants to have a conversation with network executives in an attempt to hash things out.

In the meantime, Leakes says she’s fighting for justice. She recently sat for an Instagram Live with civil rights attorney Ben Crump and detailed years of bias she says she dealt with and witnesses at Bravo. She also cites Mariah Huq’s accusations of the network stealing the Married to Medicine idea from her only to make Huq an executive producer with no real power. Huq is reportedly not returning for the next season. Per Leakes, Huq has not been fairly compensated for her work and the creation of the show.

Leakes is asking for a boycott of Bravo until they right their wrongs. In a series of tweets,  she will not be silenced and will protest if she needs to.

“Be Smart and DO NOT SUPPORT count down shows TONIGHT that aren’t supporting or respecting BLACK WOMEN creativity/equality and blacklisting us from working if we speak the truth abt their wrongdoing,” she wrote in one Tweet.

In another Tweet, Leakes writes: “In 2021, we will form a March outside of these racist studios #blackwomenmatter.“
