Continuing to roll out a slate of teen-oriented and family-friendly comedies, Netflix has ordered a 16-episode season of live-action comedy, The Prince of Peoria.

Per Deadline, the show is said to be in a similar vein of Coming to America, but for a younger demographic.

"When Emil, a 13-year-old prince from a wealthy island kingdom, travels to the U.S. to live incognito as an exchange student, he strikes up an unlikely friendship with Teddy, a fastidious, overachieving boy who is Emil’s total opposite."

No casting announcement has been made yet. While it hasn't been officially confirmed, we are going to go out on a limb and assume that the role of Emil would more than likely be portrayed by a young black actor.

Sharla Sumpter Bridgett, who is Kerry Washington's former producing partner at Simpson Street and was named president of production Tim Story's The Story Company in November, will executive produce.

This is thought to be a male-centric answer to Netflix's Alexa & Katie, a female buddy comedy which is premiering in March.

Aside from that, Netflix is premiering '90s-set coming-of-age dramedy, Everything Sucks starring Jahi Winston, and the South Central LA-set high school comedy, On My Block in March as well.
