Netflix's Coming-Of-Age Dramedy 'On My Block' Renewed For Season 2

Shadow and Act has learned Netflix has renewed the coming-of-age dramedy series, On My Block, for Season 2.

Upon release, the series garnered nearly universal acclaim. Our review reads, “For a lovely story about friendship and timely societal issues, along with superb youth acting, here is your next binge."

Co-created by Lauren Iungerich (Awkward) and Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft (All Eyez on Me), the series is a coming-of-age comedy-drama about four bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through the triumph, pain and the newness of high school set in the rough inner city. It's set in a predominantly Hispanic and African-American part of South Central Los Angeles and follows a fearless foursome as they enter high school and confront the challenges of adolescence and their neighborhood.

The series, consisting of black and Latinx actors in what is most of their first major roles, stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia and Ronni Hawk. The latter has come under fire recently, with fans of the show calling for her role to be recast.

You can check out our exclusive interview with Capri and Gray here.
