Submarine Entertainment and ByStorm Film have announced the start of development on a documentary that will chronicle the life and times of Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace, who was gunned down on March 9, 1997 –  a death that remains shrouded in mystery.

Tentatively titled “Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance,” the project hails from producing/directing brothers Emmett and Brendan Malloy, who are working with the late rapper’s estate and his mother Voletta Wallace, to bring the documentary examining Biggie’s life to the screen.

“The challenge of making a film about one of the most influential artists of my generation is what I live for as a filmmaker,” said Emmett Malloy.

Wallace’s mother Voletta, adds, “It brings so much joy to my heart that my son Christopher’s music has made such an impact on the music community and his stories have positively inspired so many young men and women over the years, and still influencing the youth all over the world today.”

Producer Submarine Entertainment has a stellar library of documentaries, including “Searching for Sugarman,” “20 Feet From Stardom,” “Muscle Shoals,” “Nas: Time Is Illmatic,” and “Miss Sharon Jones!” to name a few; so this Biggie doc should be in good hands.

Wallace’s life was the subject of the 2009 biographical film “Notorious,” which starred Jamal Woolard. The film was directed by George Tillman, Jr. and distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures. It grossed over $44,000,000 worldwide.
