The reboot mania continues!

In an exclusive report at Deadline, it has been revealed that the classic neo-noir crime film, New Jack City, is being rebooted at Warner Bros. No director is attached right now, but Snowfall‘s Malcolm M. Mays is attached to pen the script.

The original 1991 film was Mario Van Peebles directorial debut, and he starred in it with  Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, Chris Rock, Flavor Flav, Allen Payne and others. The film follows Nino Brown (Snipes), a New York City drug lord, and a detective, Scotty Appleton (Ice-T), who goes undercover to infiltrate the group.

Mays has several projects at different stages of development, including the Flint film starring T.I., which he is directing and producing.
