Next Installment of Fox Writer's Intensive Initiative to Target Diversity Now Open for Submissions

nullnullYule Caise (pictured left) was selected as last year’s Fox Writers Intensive Fellow (FWI).

Part of the Fox Audience Strategy initiative, the Writers Intensive Fellowship is the company’s advanced writer’s program designed to nurture experienced writers of diverse backgrounds. The program also is meant to create a strong pipeline of well-rounded talent for potential staffing on Fox television, feature film and digital entertainment productions, as well as for potential pitches to HarperCollins.

With his selection, Caise was awarded a development deal with FX Networks, in conjunction with Fox Broadcasting Co and 20th Century Fox Television. He was also given the opportunity to pitch a new original script to FX, and his referring organization, the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, will receive a $15,000 grant to be used for its writing program.

Caise was chosen from 10 finalists, who were selected from more than 400 nominations and submissions by talent representation and arts organizations across the country.

Today, Fox has announced a call for submissions for the next Writers Intensive program, with a submission deadline of October 10, so you better get moving.

Once again, 10 writers will be chosen to participate in four months of intensive training, including seminars, workshops, and interactive guest-speaker sessions with established writers, showrunners and directors.

And eventually, 1 outstanding writer will also be chosen as the FWI Fellow, and will have his or her script purchased and developed by Fox, as well as all the other perks Yule Caise will enjoy after winning the fellowship this year.

Writers are encouraged to apply to the Fox Writer’s Residency.
