News recently surfaced that Nick Cannon is expecting his eighth child.

On Monday’s episode of his self-titled talk show, Cannon shared the guilt he’s faced in wanting to share his news of expecting while still grieving his son, Zen, who died in December.

“I’m always talking about the guilt I feel in losing Zen and even how to deal with this for my other children,” Cannon shared. “That was a lot of the guilt as well too. Guilt for everyone involved and I just really want to say thank you to every one of my family members who have been so understanding and helping me through this process.”

Cannon admitted he wasn’t sure he wanted to share the news out of respect for the mother of Zen, Alyssa Scott.

He said he had thoughts like “When is the right time?” and “How do I share this?” Now, Cannon says he’s “taking it one day at a time.”

Perhaps, timed to the announcement of Cannon set to become a new father again, Scott shared a messsge on social media explaining her journey through grief.

“I always say Zen expanded my heart in ways I never thought possible. He filled that space with compassion, knowing I would need that most,” she wrote.

She also seemed to take aim at her son being involved in conversations about Cannon having another child. “It is painful having my son be a part of conversations that aren’t in alignment with his light and legacy,” she continued. “It isn’t something I chose for him or myself. It’s important for me to let you all know…I am centered, I am at peace.”
