Nicole Beharie & Lance Gross Will Star In Matthew Cherry's Feature Debut "The Last Fall"

Director Matthew A. Cherry, whose filmmaker diary series you’ve been following on this website for the last month or so, has finally sured up the cast for his feature film debut, The Last Fall!

And, as the title of this post reads, Nicole Beharie and Lance Gross have signed on to star in Matthew’s feature, described as “a coming of age sports drama that show the difficulties that many professional football players face when they are forced into early retirement and try to transition into their life beyond sports.

Cherry and production partner Scott Hebert will produces the film via their Transparent Filmworks company, along with NFL player, Ellis Hobbs, via his production company, Outer Stratosphere and lastly, Nikki Love.

Gross will serve as executive producer.

It’s worth noting, if you haven’t been keeping up with Matthew’s diary series, that he played in the NFL in a past life, before pursuing a career as a filmmaker, so his experience combined with Ellis Hobbs’ will provide the necessary authenticity to the project.

Principle photography for The Last Fall begins July 11, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA.

We’re thrilled for Matthew, given that we’ve been following his fledgling career for some time now, including our mention of him on the 2011 Shadow And Act Black Filmmakers To Watch List, and today’s news gives us something to look forward to early next year.

Stay tuned for more details as they come.

Congrats to all involved, and good luck on the shoot!
