Legend has it that Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff made a Nightmare on Elm Street-themed song, “A Nightmare on My Street,” with an accompanying music video. The video, which was long thought to be lost to time, has made its way online, making your Halloween even spookier.

According to SlashFilm, it was thought that the duo had to destroy the video after the song was included on the album He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper. It was intended to debut on the A Night on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master soundtrack, but because it didn’t, it led New Line to sue Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s record label Jive/RCA.

The 1988 music video is a time capsule of 20th-century cheese from Smith’s raps, VHS static and a surprise clip from what looks like Family Ties in the middle of the video; clearly, someone recorded the video over an already-used tape.

It’s a shame that a lawsuit kept a gem like this from the public eye for years. But overall, the video certainly lives up to the hype.
