Octavia Spencer Joins Paula Patton, Derek Luke In Rom-Com 'Baggage Claim'

Octavia Spencer continues to rack up the projects… certainly no post-Oscar curse here!

This time she has joined the already cast Paula Patton and Derek Luke in playwright/director David E. Talbert's rom-com, Baggage Claim, for Fox Searchlight, based on his best-selling debut novel about a flight attendant with thirty days and thirty thousand miles to find a husband.

Of course Patton stars as our husband-seeking flight attendant, and, although not confirmed yet, Luke will likely play the male lead.

Here's Amazon's description of the novel:

Pledging to keep herself from being the oldest and the only woman in her entire family never to wed, Montana embarks on a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile expedition to charm a potential suitor into becoming her fiancé. Whom will she choose? Damon Diesel, a P. Diddy wannabe; Reverend Curtis P. Merewether, pastor of Greater House of Deliverance, Tabernacle of Praise, Worship, and Miracles; pompous attorney-turned-councilman Langston Jefferson Battle III; or Quinton Jamison, a multimillionaire who's twenty years her senior?

No word on what character Spencer will play in the film.

Since her Oscar win, she's been a busy bee, from a starring role in Diablo Cody’s still-untitled directing debut, to a project I'm really looking forward to, Joon-ho Bong's thriller Snowpiercer (he directed the awesome South Korean creature feature The Host), to the Forest Whitaker-producer Oscar Grant project, Fruitvale, and more.
