After a report suggested that she was doing so earlier this week, it’s not been confirmed Danai Gurira is officially leaving The Walking Dead.

She’s signed a deal to be in the show’s tenth season, appearing in a limited capacity before exiting.

But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first broke this news, she’s also likely to co-star in the planned The Walking Dead films that AMC is working on with Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes.

Gurira’s appearances for Season 10 are described as a “handful of episodes” that will be spread across the season. She first joined the show in season 3.

It is no surprise that Gurira is parting ways with the show after she’s become a breakout star on the big screen and continued her work in theatre.

And for The Walking Dead fans, your Rick and Michonne hopes aren’t dashed forever if Gurira does in fact return for the AMC films. Right now, three films are planned and the first is confirmed to be taking place from Rick’s point of view.
