ABC could officially add a third show to the -ish universe. The black-ish spinoff, old-ish, is in development and would star Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis. Fishburne has recurred on the show since its first season and Lewis moved from recurring to a main cast member in the second season.

Barris will write the script and executive produce with Fishburne, Anthony Anderson and E. Brian Dobbins. Lewis would be a producer. The project is set out of ABC Signature, Fishburne and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy and Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the spinoff will follow Ruby and Earl as they give love a second chance. When they move to a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of L.A., they’ll meet characters who represent the old and new faces of the community as they try to make it work as a married couple. Again.”

They would join the main series, black-ish, the Freeform series grown-ish and ABC’s mixed-ish.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke this news.
