Omar Sy Joins Cast Of 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' - But What Role Will He Play?

“Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast!

The above is a tweet from director Bryan Singer posted this weekend.

To translate – Omar Sy has been cast in X-men: Days Of Future Past. I believe this makes him the first black actor to be officially cast in the movie.

Of course Halle Berry is clearly in talks to reprise her role as Storm, as Sergio reported exclusively a few days ago. So we wait to find out what the final result of those talks will be. Almost all the key figures from her X-Men class of several years go (Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore) will return to reprise their roles in Days Of Future Past, so I don’t see why she’d be the odd man (or woman) out.

As for what role Sy will play, Singer didn’t say. So that’s another piece of news we’ll have to wait for. But I’m sure those of you who are intimately familiar with the X-Men universe (specifically the story that Days Of Future Past will tell) have your own ideas on what character Mr Sy has been cast to play, so feel free to share.

Sy will next be seen in Michel Gondry’s whimsical Parisian tale, Mood Indigo.
