Justin Guarini and Aisha Jackson are Prince Charming and Snow White in the upcoming Broadway Britney Spears jukebox musical, Once Upon A One More Time. The musical retells popular fairy tales to the music of Spears. Briga Heelan will also star with Guarini and Jackson as Cinderella.

Once Upon a One More Time is written by Jon Hartmere, produced by Tony Award-winning producers James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold and directed and choreographed by Keone & Mari Madrid. The musical will start previews May 13 at New York City’s Marquis Theatre and will have its opening night June 22. Tickets are currently on sale at Ticketmaster.

The three stars of the production are reprising the roles they originated in the musical’s world premiere at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C. between Nov. 2021 and Jan. 2022. The Washington Post’s Peter Marks called it “an evening of buoyant delight” and “one of the most ambitious new musicals in a theater world awakening to a creative new day–a mots unlikely cultural mash-up, framing a bevy of storybook characters in an enlightened, modern context.” Other outlets, including Washingtonian, NPR and DC Metro Theater Arts also praised the musical for its surprising depth and raucous fun.

Once Upon A One More Time “flips the script on your favorite fairytale icons” to tell a new story. According to the synopsis:

Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid and other classic storybook characters gather for their fortnightly book club, when—oh baby, baby! —a rogue fairy godmother grants their wish for a new story, by dropping The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps. The arrival of this new tome spurs a royal revelation: there is more to life than bird-made dresses and true love’s kiss! The ultimate revisionist fairytale for anyone who yearns to feel “stronger than yesterday,” Once Upon A One More Time weaves the chart-topping anthems of the Princess of Pop herself, Britney Spears – including “Oops I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Circus,” and “Toxic” – into a heartwarming and uproarious musical adventure about taking happily ever after into your own hands.

Other members of the musical‘s technical crew include five-time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux as creative consultant, Tony Award-nominated Anna Fleischle as scenic designer, Loren Elstein as costume designer, Tony Award-winning Kenneth Posner as lighting designer, Andrew Keister as sound designer, Tony-nominated Sven Ortel as projection designer and Drama Desk-nominated Kikiya Mathis as wig designer. More of the musical’s cast members will be announced later.
