Oprah Sets Special On COVID-19's Impact On Black America

Oprah Winfrey is using her platform to give voice to the impact the coronavirus is having on African-Americans April 14, when she debuts Oprah Talks COVID-19 – The Deadly Impact on Black America for free on Apple TV+. The event will air on the streaming service at 11 p.m. ET/PT, with a spotlight on the event airing on OWN the same day.

The converation will include political pundit, CNN host and Reform Alliance CEO Van Jones, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, American Medial Association Chief Health Equity Officer Dr. Aletha Maybank, New York Times journalist and founder of 1619 Project Nikole Hannah-Jones, and a special performance by Jennifer Hudson.

Other guests are also expected to take part in the event, providing information to viewers about how the virus is affecting their communities and how we can support those on the frontlines. Winfrey herself, along with experts, will give viewers tips on how to “mindfully move” through the pandemic “while holding on to ourselves and our humanity,” as the official description states.

Winfrey promoted the upcoming special on her Instagram.
