From Oni Press, the publisher behind “Scott Pilgrim,” “Whiteout” and “Invader ZIM” among others, comes an exciting new comic book based on “Get Out” producer Blumhouse’s BH Tilt subsidiary and WWE Studio’s much anticipated sci-fi thriller “Sleight,” in theaters on April 28, 2017.

Written by Ryan Parrott (“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” “Batman: Gates of Gotham”) and illustrated by Eisner and Harvey Award winner Rob Guillory (“Chew,” “The Walking Dead”), the comic will be available via digital download for free for a limited time on March 30, 2017.

“The film is a fantastic achievement and an evolution of a genre I love, so I was honored when I was asked to contribute. Considering its many influences, it just made sense to bring this story into the medium of comics,” said Parrott. “With Rob’s incredible artwork, the goal was to provide a glimpse of what’s to come in the film while expanding the characters and the scope of the world. It was an amazing collaboration that I hope fans of the film will enjoy.”

The origin story is set in the years leading up to the events of the film which follows Bo, a young street magician left to care for his little sister Tina after their parents’ passing, who turns to questionable activities to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to use his magic and brilliant mind to save her.

Guillory states, “‘Sleight’ is a film dripping with visual style and heart-gripping characterization, so I felt that our job was to honor what JD Dillard created with this comic prequel. In a lot of ways, writer Ryan Parrot and I bring our own unique vision to the story, but our goal was to capture the spirit of ‘Sleight’ and do it justice. I think we did just that.”

In addition to the comic announcement, BH Tilt has released a first clip from the upcoming movie, featuring Dulé Hill in an atypical role. Watch the clip below.

From the producer of “Get Out,” “Sleight” was directed by breakout filmmaker J.D. Dillard, and co-written with Alex Theurer, and stars Jacob Latimore, Dule Hill, Seychelle Gabriel, Storm Reid and Sasheer Zamata.
