Quvenzhané Wallis has been tapped in one of the lead roles for Apple TV’s Kevin Durant-produced basketball drama series, Swagger. She joins the previously announced O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Jackson is a recast, as Winston Duke was initially attached for his role but was injured and had to drop out.

Inspired by Durant’s AAU basketball experiences,  the show “explores the world of youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.” According to Deadline, Wallis will portray Crystal, a young, top female basketball player.

Reggie Rock Bythewood is the director and showrunner. S&A RISING Award winner and Jinn director Nijla Mu’min is a writer on the show. The project is based Imagine TV Studios and CBS TV Studios.

Most known for her role as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild, Wallis has also appeared in projects like the 2014 Annie film. She had a recurring role on the most recent seaason of black-ish.
