O’Shea Jackson Jr. has joined Michael B. Jordan’s legal drama Just Mercy. The Straight Outta Compton star is the latest addition to a cast that includes Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is based on the memoir by Equal Justice Initiative founder and activist Bryan Stevenson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film “will follow Stevenson’s first case: that of Walter McMillian, a black man who was sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit.” Jordan is set to play Stevenson, and Fox will play McMillian. Lindsay Ayliffe has also joined the cast, playing Judge Gary Fox. Jordan is a part of the film’s producing team, with Stevenson as an executive producer.

This is just one of Jordan’s many projects coming up soon. As Trey Mangum reported in April, Jordan is also working on a remake of A Bittersweet Life and starring in Ryan Coogler’s Wrong Answer. He is also producing animated film Super Day Care, Netflix’s adaptation of comic book Raising Dion, The Thomas Crown Affair remake and WWII drama The Liberators.  Jordan will also flex his directing chops with The Stars Beneath Our Feet. His latest roles have been in HBO’s adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 and, of course, Marvel’s Black Panther as Killmonger.

Just Mercy, a Warner Bros. film, is set for release on January 1, 2020.
