'Our Kind Of People' Preview: A Line Is Crossed In The Season Finale

Leah has to be held back from Olivia once the latter crosses a line in the upcoming episode of Our Kind of People.

In the exclusive clip below, Leah (Nadine Ellis) is trying to address a downvote that caused Angela (Yaya DaCosta) to be excluded from the social club. But Olivia (L. Scott Caldwell) decides to invoke one of Leah’s triggers when trying to block her from getting the club to reconsider Angela’s membership.

Our Kind of People is inspired by the book Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class by Lawrence Otis Graham. Brought to television by Lee Daniels, Wendy Calhoun and Karin Gist, the show also stars Morris Chestnut, Joe Morton, Rhyon Nicole Brown, Lance Gross, Alana Bright and Kyle Bary. As the show’s description reads:

Inspired by Lawrence Otis Graham’s provocative, critically acclaimed book, “Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class,” the series takes place in the aspirational world of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, a historical stronghold where the rich and powerful black elite have come to play for over 50 years. OUR KIND OF PEOPLE follows strong-willed, single mom ANGELA VAUGHN as she sets out to reclaim her family’s name and make an impact with her revolutionary haircare line that highlights the innate, natural beauty of black women. But she soon discovers a dark secret about her own mother’s past that will turn her world upside-down and shake up this community forever. The show is a soapy, thrilling exploration of race and class in America and an unapologetic celebration of black resilience and achievement.

Daniels serves as executive producer alnogside Montrel McKay, Pam Williams and Lee Daniels Entertainment exec Marc Velez. Also executive producing is The Gist of It Production’s Claire Brown and Ben Silverman of Propgate.

The series is produced by 20th Television and Fox Entertainment.
