Category is: Peabody Award winner!

FX’s groundbreaking series Pose, which is set in the world of the New York ball scene in the late 1980s, has been won a Peabody Award. The Peabody Awards called the show “an honest telling of trans and gay people of color at a critical time in history.”

“Presided over by Billy Porter’s Pray Tell, the competition and its delicious melodrama serves as a backdrop for the burgeoning LGBTQ community and family, doing important representational work and storytelling both on and off the ballroom floor,” the organization wrote on its website.

The history-making series stars trans actors Mj Rodriguez, Angelica Ross, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, and Hailie Sahar. Along with Porter, the show also stars Evan Peters, Ryan Jamaal Swain, Angel Bismark Curiel, Dyllon Burnside, Kate Mara, Charlayne Woodard, Jeremy McClain, Jason A. Rodriguez, Jamez Van Der Beek, Sandra Bernhard, and Christopher Meloni. The series was created by Steven Canals, Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy.

The awards ceremony will take place on May 18 in New York.

Season 2 of Pose will begin June 9 at 9 p.m. ET on FX.
