'Pacific Rim Uprising' Will Top Box Office With Calm $23M As 'Black Panther' Becomes 5th-Highest Grossing Film In U.S. History

Pacific Rim Uprising, starring John Boyega, will top the box office this weekend with $23 million.

The moderate outing is not surprising, given that the $150 million+ budget film will probably make most of its money overseas.

Meanwhile, Black Panther, which will make around the $16 million range, will continue to set records this weekend.

It will also be the fifth-highest grossing film overall in the United States (not adjusted for inflation).

Sherlock Gnomes, the animated film featuring Mary J. Blige among is voice cast, is in the running for third.

We’ll bring you more box office updates over the weekend and a full report on Sunday.
