Queen Latifah has signed on to executive produce and star in teen comedy Paper Chase with indie global studio Gunpowder & Sky.

According to Deadline, the film will follow New Orleans teen Alicia, who wants to reinvent her image when she attends the fictional Atlanta-based Kensington University. But when Alicia can’t pay her tuition, she, her mom, Valerie, and best friend, Jamilla, try to raise the money with a wild party.

The film was written co-written by Angela Tucker and Lauren Domino and will be directed by Tucker. Queen Latifah and her business partner Shakim Compere will executive produce the film through their production company, Flavor Unit. Gunpowder & Sky’s Van Toffler will also executive produce with Loretha Jones. Domino will also produce. No cast has been announced so far.

Latifah’s producing card is full, with the comedy The Trap, starring Latifah, T.I., Mike Epps and Meagan Tandy, as well as a Lifetime scripted Salt-n-Pepa miniseries. Latifah also produces Lee Daniels’ Fox hit Star (which she stars in) and will also produce the upcoming Clark Sisters biopic with Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliott.
