Veteran Academy Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer has enlisted Pharrell Williams to help score The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

While Pharrell’s music can be found on the soundtracks of numerous films and TV shows, his only composer credit is for his scoring the soundtrack for Despicable Me in 2010, which Zimmer produced.

The dynamic duo (Zimmer and Williams) will be joined by composers Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and Dave Stewart in scoring The Amazing Spder-Man 2.

“[Director Marc Webb] and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man,” said Zimmer in a press release. “With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’ Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

Williams also contributed to Zimmer’s Man of Steel score as part of the drum orchestra, and the pair collaborated on music for the 84th Annual Academy Awards.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield and which will see Jamie Foxx as villain Electro, will hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
