Tony Award nominee Haley Kilgore is the latest to nab one of the lead roles in the upcoming Power spinoff, Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Joining Mekai Curtis, Patina Miller and Omar Epps, she’ll play a young version of Jukebox, the character played by Anika Noni Rose in the original series.

The second spinoff of Power is set in the 1990s and centered on the upbringing of Kanan (Curtis), portrayed by 50 Cent in the original series. In the spinoff, Jukebox is a quick-witted, fiercely independent and strong teenage girl who hangs with the boys and takes no s**t. She is Kanan’s confidant – they keep each other’s secrets and always have each other’s backs. Jukebox is determined to forge her own path, scrapping and hustling to make money to launch her music career.”

Kilgore is more known for her role as Ti Moune in Once on This Island on Broadway, which earned her a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role in a Musical. She recently appeared on NBC’s short-lived The Village and will star in one of the episodes of Apple TV+’s anthology series, Amazing Stories.

Sascha Penn is the Power Book III: Raising Kanan showrunner. The show is produced by 50 Cent and franchise creator Courtney A. Kemp.

Other Power spinoffs at Starz include Power Book II: Ghostwhich stars Mary J. Blige. The two other spinoffs are one focused on Larenz Tate’s Councilman Tate and Joseph Sikora’s Tommy. Those two are still in early development.
