'Power Book IV: Force' Renewed For Season 2 At Starz

The latest entry in the Power franchise, Power Book IV: Force has been renewed at Starz just a few episodes into its first season run.

We hear that the network actually decided to renew the series weeks ago but had to go through the typical renewal process before making it official. The network is said to have been clearly confident in the series’s success, including starting a season 2 writers room ahead of the series premiere.

This information comes as 50 Cent blasted Starz last week after the renewal of Hightown came down before Force. He threatened to walk away from his deal at Lionsgate over the matter.

The premiere of the show was the most-watched in Starz history and broke app viewership records, including the most-watched day on the app.

“Fans have been eagerly awaiting Joseph’s return as the iconic ‘Tommy Egan’ and from the show’s record-setting debut, it was clear right away that they want to see another season of him taking on this new city,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at STARZ. “We are thrilled to  have Joseph back in the ‘Power’ Universe and to be expanding the world with a new tapestry of  power players brought to life by our fantastic cast.”

The series stars Joseph Sikora, Isaac Keys, Lili Simmons, Gabrielle Ryan, Shane Harper, Kris D.  Lofton, Anthony Fleming III, Lucien Cambric and Tommy Flanagan.

Gary Lennon (Power, Hightown, Euphoria) will showrun season 2 and also executive produce. The show is executive produced by Power universe creator Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The “Power” Universe series EP’d by Kemp through her production company End of Episode, 50 Cent through G-Unit Film and Television. It’s also executive produced by Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Terri Kopp and End of Episode’s Chris Selak.

Lionsgate Television produces the series for  STARZ.
