The second season of The Deuce, HBO’s drama about the 1970s porn business in New York, will officially premiere September 9 at 9/8c.

The series stars James Franco as twins Vincent and Frankie Martino as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Luke Cage standout Mustafa Shakir, The Roots’ Tariq Trotter (aka “Black Thought”), Gary Carr, Lawrence Gillard Jr., Method Man, Dominique Fishback, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Natalie Paul, Ngozie Jane Anyanwu, Anwan Glover and Pernell Walker. Franco also serves as executive producer.

As Deadline reports, there were concerns about Franco’s involvement on the show since earlier this year five women accused him of sexually inappropriate behavior. But David Simon, the co-creator and executive producer, along with HBO, have stood behind Franco, saying Franco has only been “entirely professional” while on set and there haven’t been any complaints about Franco during the show’s production.
