Preview Feature Doc 'The Throwaways' (Story Of Homeless Filmmaker & Activist Ira McKinley)

Described as… A gritty, firsthand look at a reality most would rather turn away from, The Throwaways is a feature length documentary that tells the story of filmmaker and activist, Ira McKinley, who channels the experience of living on the streets through the lens of a video camera. By using his unique perspective to shed light on the struggle of people living on the margins of society, McKinley aims to pull the curtain back for viewers and expose how the current economic crisis is having a devastating effect on those who are in greatest need… They have become throwaways, invisible to most, discarded by a system that has failed them.

The film is currently in post-production, as the filmmakers Ira Mckinley & Bhawin Suchak, and producer Jay Wilcox, prepare to unveil the film later this year, or early next year, likely on the film festival circuit; although, per the film's Facebook page, there's interest in it from PBS' critically-acclaimed P.O.V. series.

You can keep up with the film's progress via its website HERE, or on Facebook HERE.
