Preview Ghana-Set 'Bukom Fighter' (9-Year-Old Looks For Hope In The Power Of His Fists)

A 2012 winner of production grants from both the Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Documentary Fund, as well as the Sundance Institute's Documentary Film Program and Fund (DFP), is the currently in development Ghana-set feature documentary, Bukom Fighter, from director Makafui Zimrani

The project's synopsis reads:

A nine year old boy from a shanty town in Ghana tries to create hope for himself using the only resource at his disposal; the power of his fists.

From the looks of the trailer, and all I've read about this film, I couldn't help but make connections to similar struggles African American boys experience here in the USA, and how they get over those hurdles – essentially, using your athletic ability as a path out of the ghetto/poverty.

No ETA on when the film will be complete.
