Queen Sugar actor Brian Michael has been cast in the sequel series to the groundbreaking LGBTQIA drama The L Word, which aired on Showtime from 2004 to 2009.
Tilted The L Word: Generation Q, the upcoming series will chronicle the lives of new LGBTQIA characters. Entertainment Weekly exclusively broke the news of his casting.
Michael is set to portray the character of Pierce Williams, who is described as a political strategist who is well versed in the politics of Los Angeles. However, Williams is one to remain, mum, when it comes to sharing his personal life.
Michael, who portrays Toine Wilkins in the acclaimed OWN drama Queen Sugar, is the second trans actor of color to be cast in the upcoming series.
The original L Word starred Pam Grier, Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey and Katherine Moennig and was groundbreaking in its depiction of lesbian women on television. The latter four will reprise their roles for the sequel series.
