'Queens' Canceled At ABC After One Season

Queens has been canceled at ABC. The cancellation was announced Friday along with the news that Promised Land was also done after one season.

In the series, “estranged and out-of-touch, four women in their 40s reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had in the ‘90s when they were legends in the hip-hop world.”

The series starrred Eve as Brianna aka Professor Sex, Naturi Naughton as Jill aka Da Thrill, Nadine Velazquez as Valeria aka Butter Pecan, Taylor Selé as Eric Jones, Pepi Sonuga as Lil Muffin and Brandy as Naomi aka Xplicit Lyrics.

The series was produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios. Zahir McGhee was the showrunner and the pilot was directed by Tim Story.

Zahir McGhee, Sabrina Wind and Story are executive produced and Swizz Beatz was executive music producer.

Brandy previously told S&A what she'd like to see in season 2

“If the show comes back, I just really want to go on tour,” she said on the Opening Act podcast. “That would be amazing. That’s [was] original [idea]…that was the whole concept of the show, is that we’d get to go in this world tour. And because of how the show, how things were written, in the twist and turns, we didn’t really get a chance to dive into the touring of what that could feel like, the dancing, the rapping, more performance[s]. I want to see more performing. That’s why I signed up to do the show, is so I can perform. Because I want to feed that part of me that always needs to be fed.”
