Real-life professional fixer, Judy Smith – who Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes based Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope on – has teamed up with CSI exec producer Carol Mendelsohn to sellold a script for a medical/legal drama called The Advocate, to CBS.

Smith will co-executive produce the project, to be penned by Ayelet Waldman, which follows a former doctor who becomes a medical advocate, working on behalf of patients and their loved ones, to solve medical mysteries and fix medical crises, ensuring her clients get the care that they deserve.

In addition to serving as a consulting producer on Basketball Wives (a fact I wasn’t previously aware of), Judy Smith also serves as co-executive producer of the aforementioned Scandal.

This sale of The Advocate is her first, since Rhimes’ breakout ABC drama.
