Regina King Tapped To Lead Cast For HBO's TV Adaptation Of Dark DC Comics Superhero Title, 'Watchmen'

Regina King has been tapped to lead the cast for HBO’s adaptation of the DC Comics superhero title Watchmen.

From Damon Lindelof, it is the latest collaboration between him and King since HBO’s The Leftovers.

The iconic Louis Gossett Jr., Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Adelaide Clemens and Andrew Howard have also been cast.

Specific character details have not been revealed yet, but Deadline says “King is believed to be playing Angela Abar, while Gossett Jr. likely is Old Man. Howard is said to be playing Red Scare, Clemens could be Pirate Jenny.”

Per THR, Lindelof’s version is “set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws. Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break ground of its own.”

On Tuesday, May 22, Lindelof posted a letter to fans about the upcoming adaptation, which read in part, “Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks.”

Day 140.
