'Rel' Canceled After One Season At Fox

The Lil Rel Howery comedy vehicle, Rel, has been canceled after one season at Fox.

The star confirmed the news on Twitter.

Executive produced by Howery’s The Carmichael Show co-star Jerrod Carmichael, Jordan L. Jones, Sinbad (in his first series regular role in over 20 years) and Jess  “Hilarious” Moore who also starred in the series.

Created by Howery, the late Kevin Barnett, and Josh Rabinowitz, Rel revolved around a “prideful, self-made success who lives by the code to ‘always believe in yourself and great things will come,’ who finds that attitude put to the test when he learns his wife is having an affair with his barber. He tries to rebuild his life post-divorce as a long-distance single father on the South Side of Chicago who is on a quest for love, respect and a new barber.” It was the second lowest-rated first-year series on the network.

The news of Rel’s cancellation comes along with the news that Fox’s Marvel drama, The Gifted has also been canceled. There are rumors that the series, starring Amy Acker, Emma Dumont, Coby Bell, Sean Teale, and Natalie Alyn Lind could find a home at another Disney-owned network.

Lil Rel Howery is definitely going to keep busy as he rapidly expands his film career, starring in the upcoming films, Brittany Runs a Marathon, Good Boys and The Photograph.
