A new report suggests that Kiki Layne has grabbed a huge role in an action movie from Gina Prince-Bythewood.

The director was tapped to helm Skydance’s film adaptation of the fantasy comic book The Old Guard, based on the comic book written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Leandro Fernández.

Now, according to The Daily Mailthe lead roles have been cast with Kiki Layne and Charlize Theron.

The Old Guard‘s story will follow “a covert group of immortal mercenaries who must fight to keep their team together when they discover the existence of a new immortal and their extraordinary abilities are exposed.”

According to the report, “Theron’s Andy battles alongside two opposing soldiers from The Crusades; a French Renaissance thief; and the latest recruit, Nile, a U.S. Marine who will be played by Layne.” Its authors have described the source material as “fairytale of blood and bullets.”

This role would be a coup for Layne and guaranteed to cap a trio of stunning turns. She made her film debut in Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk and garnered rave reviews out of Sundance for her role alongside Ashton Sanders in Native Son, which will debut on HBO later this year.
