The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore’s Native American-inspired Halloween costume is causing conversation about cultural appropriation amongst some of her co-stars, as well as viewers of the show.

Drew Sidora commented on Twitter about Moore’s costume and called her out

Fans followed suit with their own observations and didn’t hold back.

One person who came to Moore’s defense is her friend and co-star, Kandi Burruss. Burruss shot back at LaToya Ali alleging Moore’s costume was inappropriate during the RHOA After Show, telling Ali:

“To be honest with you, I didn’t think anything of it,” she said. “If anything, I think she wanted to be an Indian Princess or she thinks that’s a beautiful thing so I don’t think she was wearing the costume to mock anyone – I think she thought it was a beautiful costume because it’s a sign of a leader…a chief is someone to look up to, not to be made fun of.”

Initially, Moore also defended her decision to wear the costume on Twitter, saying Native American is part of her own heritage in a tweet. After this, she issued an apology and deleted the original tweet:

RHOA airs every Sunday on Bravo at 8 p.m. EST.
