If fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta were hoping for Nene Leakes and Kandi Burruss to make amends, don’t count on it. The two women have had a rocky relationship since Burruss joined the cast in Season 2. Despite getting on better terms in later seasons, they became estranged again once Leakes began speaking negatively of Burruss in the press. Now, Burruss says the chance of them being friends is thrown out of the window because of one remark Leakes made about her regarding race.

Kandi Burruss says Nene Leakes called her a ‘c–n’

Burruss says she hasn’t had much contact with Leakes since Leakes’ acrimonious exit following Season 13. While they’ve always had a rollercoaster relationship, Burruss said she bid any potential truce adieu after learning Leakes called her a racial slur.

“I don’t know what her problem is with me. I’ve seen her say all kinds of stuff,” Burruss said during a recent interview with TMZ’s “It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper” podcast. “This right here pissed me the f**k off … when she said somewhere calling me a ‘c**n’ or something. That right there, that’s when I was like, ‘OK, you know what…’”

A “c**n” is a term used in the Black community to describe another person who they feel is anti-Black, and/or consumed with gaining the acceptance of the white community.

Burruss said Leakes is jealous of her ongoing relationship with Bravo. She’s had the most spinoff specials out of any Housewife in Bravo history and currently has a new full spinoff show, Kandi & the Gang, that puts a spotlight on her Atlanta family eatery and their employees.

Nene Leakes hints to Kandi Burruss being a network executive favorite; alleges Burruss blocked spinoff opportunities

Leakes had one spin-off special that showcased her wedding to Gregg Leakes. Since then, she’s complained that she’s pitched several other projects to Bravo that were not picked up.

Leakes went live on Instagram with her friend, singer and reality star Tamar Braxton, where she referenced a YouTube video she posted where she hinted at Burruss being the one behind the blocking of her spin-off ideas.

“I think me not having my own show has been due to certain people not wanting me to have a show,” Leakes said.

“I have gone to Bravo about different show ideas. Why only one person gets to do a show every season after our show [RHOA], is weird.” Although Leakes didn’t name Burruss, it was implied that she was talking about her due to the number of specials Burruss has had outside of RHOA.

“To me, it looks really shady for one person season after seasons after season, gets to do a show and none of these other girls get to do anything,” Leakes added. “It really isn’t my choice. There’s definitely a reason why someone is trying to hold you back from not doing something. It feels like somebody is afraid that you will be bigger than they are. A threat, basically, which is so ridiculous, so thirsty of them. It makes no sense to me.”
