Rumors that Candiace Dillard Bassett has either left or been given her walking papers from The Real Housewives of Potomac have run rampant since the last part of the Season 6 reunion aired.

Also, in recent months, Dillard Bassett has critiqued Bravo and Housewives honcho Andy Cohen for what she considers to be discriminatory practices and editing of Black cast members on each franchise. Now, Dillard Bassett’s latest tweet has many wondering if she really has been fired.

Candiace Dillard Bassett previously denied she was not returning to the show

Rumors of the “Drive Back” singer not having her contract renewed on the show began speculating after she was not seen in photos with her co-stars as the show films its seventh season. Ashley Darby, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon have been posting photos on their social media with one another sans Dillard Bassett.

Gossip blog Bravo And Cocktails reported that ultimately, Dillard Bassett was not asked back. “This problematic east coast housewife who has been on the show for a few seasons now is rumored not to be getting her contract renewed for the new season,” their source claimed. “With filming slated to begin within the next month or so, producers have finally recognized that the trouble she has caused/has gotten herself into has not been a good look for the overall franchise.”

The source added: “Along with the added pressure from many opinionated fans calling for her termination, the clear as day fact that she will never own up to her share of mistakes, and the high probability that she will continue to cause and get into more unnecessary trouble. It is said that producers and the network are already looking for her replacement and are already toying with some ideas, including testing the waters of some new women recommended by the current/already returning cast and the promotion of the ‘friend of” from last season.’”

But Dillard Bassett shot the rumors down and took to Twitter to give her side, hinting it was just hearsay.

“Wow. I was trending? You all really want me to be that girl, don’t you?” she wrote in one Tweet.

In a separate tweet, she wrote: “‘That girl’ as in the one you keep trying to make me. ‘The One.’ ‘The Threat.’ That’s not me, girls. Stop trying to make fetch happen. It’s not going to happen.”

She has now tweeted a popular tagline by Nene Leakes

Despite initially denying the rumors, Dillard’s recent tweet has many believing the rumors are real.

In the tweet, she wrote, “Well. When one door closes, another will open.” Nene Leakes used the phrase as her tagline on RHOA for a few seasons beginning in Season 5.

The phrase is popular and used often to describe transitions from one opportunity or relationship ending to a better one coming.

Many believe Dillard Bassett is speaking on finally being given the axe from the show she’s been on since Season 3.

Dillard Bassett responded to a separate tweet from 'Not All Diamonds and Rosé: An Oral History of the Real Housewives' author Dave Quinn.

The tweet reads, “Life has a plan and we’re often the last to know about it. But take solace in knowing that what lies ahead is the path for which you were destined.”  Dillard Bassett responded with an exclamation point.

Only time will tell if the star is just fanning the flames or if she may really be out.
