Ever since the fight between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett, most of the ladies of The Real Housewives of Potomac have made it clear that they prefer not to be around Samuels. They view Samuels as a “threat” and “liability” and are more concerned with Dillard Bassett’s “emotional and physical well-being.”
Two castmembers who remain friends with Samuels are Karen Huger and Ashley Darby. Darby even went as far as writing a statement of support for Samuels’ countersuit against Dillard Bassett, putting the final nail in the coffin in terms of any potential friendship between Darby and Dillard Bassett.
While Darby is fine with taking a stance for Samuels, Huger has tried her best to remain neutral. But, her straddling of the fence has come back to bite. While on a cast trip to Portgual, Huger announced that she owns a new wig line and invited the cast to a launch party. The women asked if Huger also extended the invitation to Samuels, to which she replied she did not out of respect for the women’s wishes.
But when Darby and Samuels met for lunch, Samuels made it clear that she was indeed invited. Not only that, she claims she’s the first co-star Huger told about the event…even before huger told production!
Samuels did attend the launch party but not in the way imagined. Huger had Samuels arrive early and escorted her out before the other co-stars arrived. To Huger, it was her way of accommodating both friends, but the others aren’t happy.
They confronted Huger in the middle of her event and asked for clear answers on whether or not she intentionally invited Samuels and Dillard Bassett to be in the same space. Huger denies such. But when Dillard Bassett reveals that Huger also invited her to show up early, Robyn Dixon, Wendy Osefo, and Darby are stunned at the idea that Huger potentially tried having them hash things out against their wishes.
A frustrated Huger storms out of her own event early as a result. “I have warned these women…I am leaving the party because I’m simply embarrassed and I’m tired of this. It’s unacceptable. It looks stupid,” Huger says in a confessional.
Dillard Bassett tries to make sense of what happened. “There’s just something extra twisty about this knife with Karen, because I look up to Karen more than anybody else,” a tearful Dillard Bassett says in her confessional. “It’s hurtful.”
The season finale of RHOP airs Sunday, Dec. 6 at 9 pm EST on Bravo and will include another blowup involving Dillard Bassett – this time, with Michael and Ashley Darby.
