'RHOP' Star Gizelle Bryant Says She And Jamal Bryant Are 'Best Friends' Despite Breakup

Gizelle Bryant insists that despite recently confirming she and her ex-husband Jamal Bryant split once again after a briefly rekindled romance, the two remain the best of friends. The Real Housewives of Potomac star reconnected romantically with Jamal after over a decade of being divorced and it was scandalous from the start.

Gizelle’s friends and family weren’t necessarily on board due to Jamal’s cheating past, including their own daughters. But Gizelle said Jamal was a changed man, despite him appearing disinterested on the show by rarely filming and rumors of him cheating persisting.

It all came to a head during the season 5 reunion special when Monique Samuels binder full of receipts exposed alleged text messages between Jamal and another woman. Still, Gizelle stood firm with Jamal, with Jamal also denying the allegations. But it wasn’t enough to sustain them.

Gizelle says the long-distance and a global pandemic caused the breakup this time around. Jamal lives in Atlanta while Gizelle remains in Maryland.

“Listen, we were a victim of the pandemic,” she tells E! Online. “I don’t think any long-distance relationship can really withstand not seeing each other. But is he still in my life, is he still one of my best friends? Absolutely.”

But she’s not crying and is ready for her hot girl summer, noting, “Has it started? Oh my gosh, yes! Gizelle’s out here, she’s dating, she’s doing her thing, she’s having fun. And you know, I really enjoy just being free, feeling free, and not having to think about compromising about anything.”

RHOP airs Sundays on Bravo.
