Jen Shah of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is in hot water once again after a GoFundMe was created in her behalf.

For those unfamiliar, Shah is accused of being part of a telemarketing scheme that defrauded hundreds of people, many of whom are over the age of 55. Per CNN, Shah and her assistant were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, as well as one count of conspiracy to commit money.

In the GoFundMe, which is now deleted, her cousin Filipe wrote, “We are asking 10,000 caring souls to donate $250. Jen is facing decades incarcerated in prison separated from her family if she is unable to mount a competent and well-thought-out defense.”

The crowdfunding page was taken down as a violation of GoFundMe’s terms of use. A spokesperson for GoFundMe told The Sun, “I can confirm the fundraiser violates our Terms of Service. The fundraiser has been removed from the platform and all donors were refunded.”

Shah’s GoFundMe received a negative response on Twitter.

Someone wrote, “JEN SHAH’S COUSIN IS RUNNING A “SCAM” ON GOFUNDME TO PAY FOR LEGAL FEES ???? She mentions people are wrongly accused all the time insinuating Jen is, and speaks to her character turned into a semi-sob story ???? Its illegal to ask fund for legal fees on GoFundMe.”

Another person said, “Jen Shah’s cousin started a gofundme for her legal fees……..if any of y’all donate feel free to unfollow me❤️ #RHOSLC.”

All of this is likely to play out on the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which is due later this year on Bravo.
