Most of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast members have joined together to denounce co-star Jennie Nguyen’s anti-Black posts, which also included sentiments against Black Lives Matter.

“Recent events have reminded me of the importance of always leading with LOVE, light and kindness,” wrote Whitney Rose on Instagram, according to E! Online. “It is NEVER ok to blatantly make, comment, post, and /or share any type of racially charged & derogatory statements/posts.”

“Like everyone else, I was shocked and saddened at the things that have surfaced online,” she continued. “There is so much deep seeded discrimination and racism rooted in our country and we all need to do better and work together to make a change.”

According to an earlier previous report, Nguyen’s posts from Sept. 2020 resurfaced, with one stating, “I’m sick of pepole saying cops need more training. You had 18 years to teach your kids it’s wrong to loot, steal, set buildings a blaze, block traffic, laser people’s eyes, overturn cars, destroy buildings and attack citizens. Who failed who?” Another read, “Hundreds of blacks shot and many killed (including children) by other blacks every week. Over a thousand Officers violently injured, some permanently, by rioters. Anarchists rioting in major cities every night, which has caused billions of dollars of destruction to private and public property. And you still think Police Officers are the problem. You are an idiot.”

It should be noted that the “B” in “Black,” a proper noun for a race of people, went uncapitalized, while “Officers” and “Police Officers,” not a race of people, were capitalized.

Fans of the show were outraged and called for Nguyen to be fired.

Also, despite Nguyen deleting her offending posts, screenshots of the posts still exist on social media. Nguyen later issued an apology on Instagram, writing, “I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today. At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were. It’s why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they caused.”

However, Jen Shah alleges that Nguyen's apology is "disingenuous," writing in a statement

“Since my RHOSLC cast member has admitted that she made those horrible comments and posts, I must now stand up, on behalf of my husband and sons who are African American, to say that I am deeply offended by the racially insensitive posts and comments…It was infuriating to see her like and repost comments that made a mockery of and show complete apathy towards those killed marching to bring awareness to the deep-seeded social injustice issues that plague our country…Needless to say, we have some real s–t to talk about.”

Meredith Marks also commented on Twitter with the word "Vile," and later posted to Instagram a quote from Martin Luther King in the hopes that others will speak out against bigotry.

“There is no room in this world for hatred. We are all human beings and deserve the same treatment of respect and dignity,” she wrote. “Negative commentary rooted in prejudice regarding one’s race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, or gender is vile and should never be tolerated. Educate if it comes from a lack of knowledge and condemn if it comes from a place of hatred. I pray to see this world without prejudice.”

Lisa Barlow, who is Nguyen's friend of over 10 years, tweeted "Things get addressed" regarding Nguyen's viewpoints.

When a fan asked if her comments would be addressed in the upcoming season, Barlow wrote, “Before then.”

Interestingly enough, Nguyen was once on the other side of a Real Housewives controversy when she was the victim of anti-Asian rhetoric from co-star Mary Cosby.

Fans have also been calling out an alleged double standard with some of the castmates in regard to how Cosby was treated versus Nguyen. They also want Bravo to make a statement and to fire her, even though she is filming season 3.
