A Black Lady Sketch Show creator/star Robin Thede has inked an exclusive overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group., Shadow and Act has learned.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but we hear that it is a multi-year agreement. It is the first deal for Thede with WBTVG, extending the long-standing relationship that WarnerMedia has with her.

Under the deal, Thede will develop new television programming for all platforms: on-demand/streaming services (including HBO Max), premium/pay and basic cable channels (including HBO), and the broadcast networks.

Aside from A Black Lady Sketch Show, Thede is writing the film Fashionably Black for HBO Max with Christa Gatewood. The project is produced by Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society.

Thede served as the head writer and correspondent for Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. She was the head writer for the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Ahead of A Black Lady Sketch Show, she was the creator, executive producer, showrunner, writer and star of the BET late-night talk show The Rundown with Robin Thede.

She can be seen soon in Justin Simien’s horror satire, Bad Hair, which will debut earlier this year at Sundance and will bow on Hulu in October.
