Rome Flynn has joined How to Get Away with Murder in the mystery role of Gabriel Maddox.

Spoiler alerts below:

The character was introduced in the Season 4 finale, and is strongly hinted that he could be the son of Bonnie (Liza Weil), or possibly even Annalise (Viola Davis).

It is unknown whether this is a recurring role or series regular, but regardless it could a breakout role for the actor.

Flynn starred in the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from 2015-17. Since leaving the show for primetime opportunities, he guest starred on CBS’s MacGyver and NCIS: New Orleans. He’s also set to appear in the film A Madea Family Funeral later this year.

On whether Gabriel could be Bonnie’s son, showrunner Pete Nowalk told EW,  “Obviously that’s a big mystery. We’re hinting that it’s Bonnie’s kid. All we know is that Frank called someone and said, “Her kid’s here.” That pronoun, her, covers a lot of our characters, and maybe characters we don’t know. We don’t know who Frank is talking to, so that’s really a huge mystery for the next season. If it’s Bonnie, the question is: Does she know? Or does she not know? I think her reaction will come from there. But all of these questions are things that I want people to think about, and just ponder over the hiatus.”

The series, while not officially renewed, is expected to come back for a Season 5 in the fall.
