Crime anthology series, Briarpatch, starring Rosario Dawson, has been picked up to series by USA Network. Based on the book, Dawson is slated to play Allegra Dill, an investigator whose personal life collides with her professional one when she returns home to Texas after her sister is murdered. For Dill, the hunt for her sister’s killer turns into a relentless quest to expose the corrupt underbelly hidden under the fabric of her hometown.

Briarpatch will be written and executive produced by Andy Greenwood, as well as executive produced by Sam Esmail, the creator of the USA show Mr. Robot and Amazon’s Homecoming. Rosario Dawson will also produce the series. The pilot was both directed by Ana Lily Amirpour.

Briarpatch marks Dawson’s first leading role on network television. She is also slated to appear in Jordan Peele’s upcoming sci-fi comedy series, Weird City.
