Ryan Coogler, Chinaka Hodge, Destin Daniel Cretton Team Up for TV Drama, 'Minors'

nullWith "Black Panther" now officially on his to-do list, Ryan Coogler is making a push into TV land, teaming up with Charles D. King’s year-old (and busy) Macro Ventures, as well as Destin Daniel Cretton (director of "Short Term 12") and poet, playwright, educator and screenwriter Chinaka Hodge, for what will be a drama series titled "Minors."

Chinaka HodgeTo be shopped to networks, "Minors" will focus on children who grow up in the foster care system, and will be inspired by the personal experiences of the trio – Coogler’s Oakland, CA time working in a juvenile detention facility; Cretton’s work in foster care; and Hodge’s work as a teacher of under-served youth.

Destin Daniel CrettonAll three will serve as executive producers of the series, along with King, Macro production president Kim Roth and production Senior Vice President Poppy Hanks.

Asher Goldstein will serve as co-executive producer.

But a solid creative team behind "Minors" and a subject that I can’t say has been comprehensively tackled in any scripted TV series drama, makes this a project that should find a home relatively easily.

Something to look forward to…
