Sarah Michelle Gellar, Other 'Buffy' Stars State Support For Ray Fisher And Charisma Carpenter Over Joss Whedon

Ray Fisher and members of Buffy the Vampire Slayer have come out in support of Charisma Carpenter's statement about the abuse she experienced while on the Buffy and Angel sets.

Fisher has retweeted Carpenter's statement, adding his support.

"Charisma Carpenter is one of the bravest people I know," he wrote. "I am forever grateful for her courage and for her lending her voice to the Justice League investigation. Read her truth. Share her ruth. Protect her at all costs. 'It is time.'"

Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar released a statement of support for Carpenter, adding that she doesn't want to be associated with Whedon.

"While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don't want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon," she wrote. "I am more focused on raising my family and surviving a pandemic currently, so I will not be making any further statements at this time. But I stand with all survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out."

Gellar's castmember Michelle Trachtenberg also reposted Gellar's statement on her Instagram, adding her thanks.

"Thank you @sarahmgellar for saying this," she wrote. "I am brave enough now as a 35 year old woman...To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With not appropriate behavior..."

Trachtenberg also reposted Gellar's statement in her Instagram stories with her own addition. "We know what he did," wrote Trachtenberg. "Behind. The. Scenes."

Fellow Buffy star Amber Benson also tweeted about Whedon's abuse, writing, "Buffy was a toxic environment and it starts at the top," she wrote. "@AllCharisma is speaking truth and I support her 100%. There was a lot of damage done during that time and many of us are still processing it twenty plus years later." Benson also used the hashtag #IStandWithRayFisher as well as #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter.

No statements have been made from WarnerMedia, DC Films or Whedon at this time.
